  I visited Belize in Nov 2024 and had an unfortunate fall and ended up at Ambergris Hope Hospital where I received decent treatment. I was told that they required a "deposit" because they were not sure if my insurance company would cover me. I cash paid for my services and then they billed my insurance company and got paid again. There is nobody to speak to about any of it. When I got back to the US I tried and tried to reach them. I feel like I got swindled.

  If they see a tourist in front of them, they will swindle him out of his money. I do not recommend this clinic. I paid for everything, we agreed that I would come to them for the document on the day of my flight, but the staff let me down before the flight and did not fulfill their promises in time (I needed a doctor's note) and did not even answer anything about it. Then they said they would send the document by mail, for which I paid a lot of money, and they didn't even do it! Total disappointment!

  I visited with a minor injury, was triaged by the lovely nurse within 10 minutes of arriving, and then seen by the equally lovely doctor about 10 minutes after that. The doctor talked me through the procedure I needed and provided thorough advice about aftercare. Very professional service throughout, and I felt well looked after. I didn't know what to expect cost-wise (as am lucky enough to live in the UK with free healthcare), but the charges seemed reasonable, and everything was clearly set out on an itemised invoice.

  I went to the hospital since I was having ear blockage issues upon flying into San Pedro. I was seen by Dr. Paolo Ack promptly (10 min wait) and he irrigated my ear which removed the earwax that was causing the blockage causing me to feel ‘underwater’. Since I came in on a Sunday I was charged an emergency rate ($80 USD) for Dr. Acks general consultation and then $50 USD for materials/ ear lavage and $10 USD for ear drops. I’m very happy I came in and traded $140 USD as I can now enjoy my three days of diving here!!

  Let me start with the fact that the hospital is very clean and the doctor was very professional and helpful. BUT, the moment that the stuff heard that the insurance pays for the treatment they tried to add alot of unnecessary addons for the treatment. I was sitting and waiting for the lab results and they wanted to charge me an absurd observation fee of 100 usd per hour! When I tried to get logical explenations they stuff tried they best, but again only after arguing and shouting they let me go without paying the absurd observation fee, not only before the workers in they front desk were laughing and making jokes about the situation infront of my face.
