::SCAM. The car they rented was in bad shape. Unless you take out every single insurance which rises the price of the car from $40 us to over $120 use per day they will “find” something wrong with the car and charge you to “fix” it which they do not do. The car has had no maintenance.

::we had a great experience, it was all pretty smooth. the girls at the front were great. i was a bit scared because of the reviews but they treated us well. we brought the car the same condition we got it. we slowly took a very detailed video of everything including a 360 on the car itself and any damages before we got the car and everything turned out fine

::Despite the suggested car rental company that was recommended to us by the owner of the home we were staying in for the week, I chose Avis because I use Avis for work travel. Avis has always been a reliable company for me, and I have never had an issue in all the years I have used Avis. Unfortunately, this was not the case in Belize. It started with the agent not wanting to honor the quote I had. I showed him the quote, and he refused to honor it. The Agent, Arthur, was trying to charge me over a $1,000.00 when my original quote was for $718.00. I spent over an hour arguing with Arthur and he finally came down to $720. In the meantime, my wife is standing outside in the heat and the rain with our luggage. I have never had this experience before. Avis has always honored the quoted price. Why didn't he just honor the quote?? $2.00 might not seem like a big deal, but I shouldn't have been put in a position to spend the first hour of my vacation arguing about the price of my rental vehicle that I had already had a quote on. This wasn't our only issue. My daughter and her family also rented their vehicle from Avis. On the morning of our return, they were stopped by the Department of Transportation in Belize and threatened with having their vehicle being impounded and jail because the insurance sticker on the vehicle was expired. We had left earlier than they had, so they were all alone. My daughter, her husband and my two grandsons 5 and 7. Alone in a foreign country, terrified and being threatened with jail because of something that was out of their control and not their fault. I can't even begin to explain to you how terrifying that experience was for them and us. And my grandsons were so scared and didn't understand why their mom was crying. Can you imagine if this happened to your family?? Thankfully, there was a female officer that stepped in to help comfort them and resolve the situation. They were given a ticket and released after almost an hour. However, before reaching the airport they were again stopped and questioned at a checkpoint. It wasn't just their vehicle. When I stopped for gas, I checked our vehicle and that sticker was also expired. Had we been stopped at a checkpoint, we could have been faced with the same situation. This is not the Avis experience I have always relied on. It shouldn't matter what state or country I am in; I should feel confident with renting from Avis.

::Avis @ Belize Airport was outstanding. Checkin easy and friendly. But even more importantly.. Arthur - one of the staff,, absolutely saved my trip!! The car he arranged was perfect for exploring Belize.

::Do not use!! Would give less than one star if possible. After waiting over an hour to be attended to we were told there was only one car available and it was in absolutely terrible conditions and unsafe to drive. Pictures speak for themselves. The odometer area was so scratched that you couldn’t read how fast you were going. The interior of the car was dirty and upholstery had multiple tears. We were told one window was not working but once in car we discovered that only one window in the back was operational. The two front windows would not work at all.
