::I booked this location and then had to cancel for personal reasons. This was over a month ago and I'm still waiting for my refund. Attempts to contact the hotel remain unanswered or rudely responded to. Communication history is deleted so that there is no proof. Last message from this hotel was " what's my problem.. why are you following up". Buyer beware!!!! This hotel is a scam!!!!!

::Shelly, the on site Manager and Adriana her assistant, we're very friendly, always available and quick to respond to any request we had about our stay. Our room #6 was awesome, on the beach. We opened the front and back door during the day and didn't need ac until we closed the doors to sleep. Even though the two best bars in Placencia are right next door we didn't lose a minute of sleep over the sound. From what we did hear, sounds like a good time. Shelly is very helpful and can set you up with any excursions you want to take. We did a snorkel excursion where we ate the barracuda and conch the boat captain got for us. They made a stew with veggies and coconut milk that was the best seafood lunch I have ever had. These Cabana's are not the fanciest place to stay but the sheets, kitchen and bathroom were clean and served the purpose. For the price totally worth it!! You can also walk the main part of town to the public beach at the end of the peninsula. Get a seaweed shake, delicious

::I’ll start off by saying be weary of the 8/10 and 10/10 reviews for this place. What we learned during our week stay certainly DID NOT matchup. The staff are lovely and did what they could within their ability to help us out. However, this place is lacking and it is very obvious the owners are collecting with little regard for its patrons. I can start with a basic lack of functional furniture. Chairs for rooms and the beach are broken, and a pile of plastic, garbage, and wood on site reflects this. At one point I was left to make my own fix to add to the only 3 functional beach chairs that guests were left with. We used our bedroom pillows as seat cushions as well and the trend caught on with other guests seeking comfort during beach time. Ultimately we ended up going to the beachfront a short walk down and paid 10 BLZ for a proper lounger, towel, use of pool, and bar access. The NOISE! You don’t need quarters to make the bed vibrate as the constant base from the Barefoot bar and Airbnb next door makes up for it. We read reviews which said moving to a cabin slightly away makes this a minor distraction. We had earplugs, ac, fan, and noise machine running and still lost out to the party and base next door. One night the party did not end until 7am the next day - which made for interesting coffee time. We had to ask for basic appliances in the room such as a coffee maker, which needs to be replaced. The fridge barely kept up and I had ice after 3 days. A small win :) I took the failing battery out of the smoke detector to stop the beeping and let staff know. They did not have a battery. I didn't mention the leaking toilet knowing this too falls in the owner’s lap. Price does NOT match what you get and we highly recommend booking elsewhere. We found better accommodation with all the basics we were expecting for less and great reviews from guests who were staying there. Julia’s lack of upkeep, poor location next to a bar and locally rented guest house, broken and lack of basic amenities right down to holes in towels and holes in reviews inspired me to write this warning to other travelers looking for basic, clean, quiet, and up-kept accommodation in this area. Julia’s is no longer it. Stay clear. I suspect this review will be quickly buried by other fake 10/10’s.

::We loved staying at Julia's and would return in a heartbeat! Julia's Cabana's are located right on a wonderful beach and adjacent to the Placencia sidewalk. It's centrally located and close to restaurants, coffee shops and stores. Everything you need is within walking distance. Our cabana (#4) was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower always had lots of hot water. It's safe and well lit. The grounds were always maintained and the beach was groomed every morning. Yes...the cabanas are basic, old, rustic and require some TLC. Yes...the bar next door can be loud and noisy (especially on a Sat. night) but the air conditioning an ear plugs help to drown the noise. Julia's Cabanas is reasonably priced for budget travellers. We gave Julia's 5 stars because of the incredible, friendly and warm people that looked after us. The manager, Shelly, is amazing! I hope the owners of the property recognize the incredible job Shelly is doing for them! When we arrived at the property we were greeted by Adrianna (another amazing employee!). Shelly and Adrianna went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and kept checking on us throughout our stay (12 days). Staying at Julia's felt like we were at home! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I have never felt safer staying at a lodging! This is an ideal place for solo travellers...the buildings might require care but the people who run it sincerly care for each and every guest! Thank you for such a great stay Shelly! All of you are appreciated!

::We had to scramble and find a place to stay after a cancelled flight. We were lucky to get a nice beachfront room here that was perfect and a great value. Shelly in the office was friendly and very accommodating. It is practically next to Barefoot bar which for us was a bonus. I'd definitely stay here again.
