::Leticia makes this place an amazing experience with THE MOST EXCELLENT COOKING WE HAD IN BELIZE. She arranged all of our activities, guides, and easily accommodated our seed-oil allergy. She is great. The villas in the jungle are very basic, but are very clean, comfortable, and have everything you need.

::We left snowy Montana at 4am and arrived at Macaw Bank Jungle lodge at 11pm. It was a long day of travel with our 2 kids under 10 and my husband and I. We rented a car at the airport and navigated in the dark to the lodge. Luckily the lodge had given us very good directions beforehand. We were met by Liticia and her flashlight when we pulled up. Waking up the next morning with the sounds of the jungle was amazing. Liticia and her husband Raul were exceptionally wonderful host and set a friendly and welcoming tone for our whole Belize trip. The grounds that the lodge sits on are beautiful. We spent a whole day just relaxing and exploring there. Raul met us one morning for a bird walk as well. I highly recommend that! Yes, the food was expensive, but AMAZING. If you like fresh, farm to table meals, then this is your place. It became a family joke the whole 2 weeks we were in Belize "I wish Raul was here making us breakfast" "I wonder what Raul is making for dinner tonight?" If you are looking for the all inclusive high end resort jungle stay, this is not it. But if you want a clean, beautiful and safe lodge where you feel welcome then this is your place. 10/10

::Raoul and Letty are incredible. They are so kind, thoughtful and hard-working, and Raoul is a killer vegan chef. They have a garden with all sorts of fruits and veggies that we had never tried. The cooking is stupendous and true to Belize -- they're not going to make pizza. We are so lucky to have stayed there. Make sure you bring a 4x4!!!

::Vegan Foodie Paradise in the Jungle! We had an incredible time staying at Macaw Bank Jungle Lodge. Some highlights: -Beautiful and comfortable cabins. We stayed in the cotton tree cabin which was perfect for our family, our 5 year old loved the bunk beds, and we loved the relaxing screened in porch. -The incredible setting. Wake up to the sound of birds and go to sleep to the sound of crickets and frogs. Lots of nice walking trails through the jungle. You'll feel a thousand miles away from everything, and yet you're never too long of a drive to all the activities the Cayo District has to offer. You definitely need a 4WD to get here though, so don't skimp on your car rental! -The warm, thoughtful hosts. Leti and Raul were so lovely, and were especially attentive to our 5 year old. They let our kid pick fruit in the garden, answered all our questions about the wildlife and plants, and even baked a special cake for my husband's birthday. But what I want to call out for all my vegan foodies out there: THE FOOD. Raul is an incredibly gifted cook and made unbelievable vegan food for our family. We stayed for 6 nights and every breakfast and dinner was unique, creative, and delicious. Hands down the best meals we had in Belize, and honestly some of the best food I've had period. Many of the ingredients are fresh from their garden, some of the vegan meats came from a friend of theirs who makes homemade products, and all of the food was incredible. (I'm sure all of his non vegan food for other guests was great too, but I wanted all my vegan travelers out there to know how special this place is)

::In January 2023, we booked 4 nights at Macaw Bank with our 2 teens (boy 15 & girl, nearly 13), and it firmly sits in one of the top places we have ever stayed. Even our teens loved itâwhich is saying a lot. The main reasons are the incredible managersâRaoul and Letty and the lodge's tranquil riverside jungle location. I share the top 5 things we loved most. 1. The grounds and the trail system Raoul upkeeps are beautiful, especially the trail that leads to the river and then loops back around to connect to the garden. 2. The peaceful quiet of staying further from the bustle of town. At Macaw Bank, nature and wildlifeâparticularly bird species that feed and congregate along the riverâwill surround you. 3. The rustic cabanas are meticulously clean, spaciously set apart from each other, and free of critters which must be a near herculean task in the jungle. 4. The food is excellent. Among many talents, Raoul is an incredible chef. He made our breakfast, dinners, and desserts each day. We loved every mealâespecially the Belizean ones. 5. The welcomeâwe felt incredibly and authentically welcome by Letty and Raoul. Letty was our all-in-one resourceâactivity director, caregiver, tour guide, fruit and vegetable educator, and new friend. During our stay, we went for an early AM bird walk, ziplined, visited a butterfly reserve, hiked down to a waterfall, visited Tikal, and did the ATM cave tour. I can not recommend this place more!
