  It was my first time to have a wonderful horseback riding experience in the mountains and forests. Joe and Miriam's family and the group of dogs were all very warm and welcoming. The two and a half hours of horseback riding in the jungle was really healing. It was an indescribable and wonderful experience in life.❤️❤️❤️

  All I want to do is go back! This place is truly magical. Joe and Miriam feel like family after the two days of staying with them. Their location is remote and immersive. We stayed in the tree house which is open on all sides, no door or electrical and situated right over a beautiful waterfall. (There are some bugs but nothing like I had anticipated being in the heart of the jungle and the only spider I saw was the beautiful tarantula Joe showed us.) The bathroom and shower area was clean and well equipped. We wake up early in the morning and were met with coffee and tea in the dining area which is open to the ground and perfect to watch the animals and toucans flying about. The first day we joined for the pontoon exploration and it was a magical experience, it was truly something out of the jungle book, it was powerful! The bbq provided was superb, the poetry by Joe is moving and you truly feel deeply connected to the earth and jungle. His love for the land run deep it’s reflected in his art, animals and family. His son took my son under his wing and treated him as a friend and made the trip extra special for him. We followed one of the water falls all the way up into the jungle. The others on the trip with us were also kind amazing people from Belize and made instant friends. That night we enjoyed a horseback ride into the jungle lead by their youngest son and it was a stunning ride with breathtaking view points and you land on a tall mountain top where you can almost touch the stars (we did a night ride.) Miriam’s cooking is absolutely satiating every meal was a treat and some of the best food of our whole trip around Belize. Her hospitality was warm welcoming and inviting I felt like I’ve known her my whole life. There is something so magical about their property and this stay spectacular. We we definitely be returning to visit them again and stay longer. What a blessing and honor to have been able to experience this in a lifetime. I highly recommend anyone stay here. It’s too special not to share.

  I had a life-changing experience visiting Martz Farm. We wanted to go horseback riding in the jungle and were recommended to Martz by an American ex-pat. Miriam picked us up at the border town and drove us out. It is so obvious Miriam and Joe (the owners) love what they do. We got to hear Miriam's amazing life story on the drive and how she came to Belize, and she is incredibly knowledgeable. Their property is in the jungle, and there's a stream right by one of the treehouses. We were each given the perfect horse that matched us, and Joe took us out into the jungle. He takes time to explain all the parts of the property and his family's history there. He stopped at certain points to show us breathtaking views and show us local plants (allspice, mint, etc). We went to a spot overlooking their lake and the view is something you only ever see in movies. His knowledge of the land, history, and culture is expansive. I can honestly say Joe changed my life with his explanations, poetry, and life experience. (BTW it is worth the money to be picked up by Miriam or Joe and brought out to their location - the drive and terrain are difficult, and if you don't have the right vehicle it will be tough drive)

  Everything at Martz Farm was amazing. The rooms were very comfortable, the food was delicious, and the ecological setting of the farm was spectacular. Miriam and Joe were amazing hosts. We did a few day trips (horse back riding, Mayan Cave, and pontoon boat) all of which were spectacular. I loved being able to explore the jungle around the property and the swimming hole was lovely. Thank you!

  We stumbled across Martz Farm searching Google maps and it’s been the best part of our trip! A once in a lifetime dream location, hosts and experiences. Staying in a treehouse with a waterfall that flows underneath, dogs and horses galore and jungle for days. The food was an unexpected bonus - we arrived to Miriam saying ‘give me 10 minutes for the fresh bread to be ready’ and we knew we were going to love it here. Joe is the font of all knowledge beyond the jungle he grew up in and we felt at home for the 2 days we were welcomed. He’s a true horseman too and the animals were respected and beautifully looked after which is always key for me travelling and riding. The boat trip and waterfall hike is a must and Joe’s knowledge of the local habitat tops the experience. It felt like we’d been there a month by the time we left (which we honestly didn’t want to do!) and we’ll remember our adventure with the Martinez family for a long long time to come. Stop considering and book… you won’t regret it!
