::Recommend skipping this museum. I had some extra time so stopped by. There are only two exhibits, one on slavery, and the other on agriculture. Not worth your time.

::This is a wonderful museum full of variety of historical items, a gallery of paintings, and a collection birds and bugs. There is something for everyone.. and the children's room on the top floor is perfect for a 2 year old while parents take turns reading. There is WiFi at this museum and they also accept payment by Visa or MasterCard.

::A small museum in a former prison building, containing Mayan artifacts (few and not particularly impressive) and pictures and information panels about slavery (very moving and, although well-known, still shocking to see how people were transported and traded like chickens today). The museum is certainly not a must-see, but perhaps the only real highlight in Belize City.

::Note: Google Map location is off, museum is located next to Belize Central Bank 400' further north along street. Great small museum within walking distance from cruise dock. Slavery display was enlightening supplement to my USA perspective - 400 years, whole country one big set of plantations harvesting wood, escaped slave towns, social hierarchy. Also Mayan display with artifact, local art display and insect collection. And nice clean restrooms! Small ($7) admission fee.

::The Museum of Belize, housed in a former 19th-century prison, houses artifacts from the Mayan civilization, including pottery, jewelry, and sculpture, as well as artifacts related to Belize's colonial past. The museum also boasts a collection of postage stamps and works by local artists.
