::Such a wonderful place. So spacious and such a beautiful view, especially sunrise. Can't go wrong. Highly recommend.

::Whenever I think of our honeymoon stay at The White House in Placencia, it makes me smile. Per and Kirsten Kristensen’s house on the Placencia peninsula is a welcoming beachfront destination filled with the most thoughtful amenities. I can say without a doubt that staying at The White House in Placencia is a no-brainer decision. If you ask my Soulmate husband and I if we have any regrets, it’d be only one—that we couldn’t stay longer. And that’s saying a lot as we were there for two weeks. It was love at first sight, and each day we fell more and more in love with the place. It’s certainly a place we can imagine returning to again and again. What we loved the most was how every detail and amenity we could have imagined was attended to. From the incredible communications we had with Per and Kirsten before our trip even began, to the kindness their caretaker Eduardo took in making sure anything and everything we could ask for was provided. A few of the house highlights included: • The massive veranda overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Wow, what a view to wake up to. We spent hours nestled in the lounge chairs simply reading, chatting, and relaxing. • The outdoor shower off the master bedroom was such an incredible experience that we’re dreaming about recreating one at home. • The kitchen and all of its accoutrements made whipping up culinary feasts a delight. • When we weren’t relaxing in the house, it was wonderful to be able to wade right into the sea in front of the house. The beach access is topnotch. A few of our other favorite things: • Being so close to the Placencia sidewalk made shopping and eating out easy. There is a grocery store, pharmacy, bakery, and juice shop all right at the top of the street. I can’t think of a better location for a vacation house. • On the Placencia sidewalk, a few of our favorite places included the Beaches and Cream coffee shop, the Cozy Corner restaurant, and the Literary Lizard Bookshop. • We loved swimming at The Ellysian hotel pool. For a nominal fee, which includes a cocktail, they’ll let you enjoy their pool amenities. We found this space quieter and less crowded than the Placencia Beach Club (PBC) although the PBC was a wonderful place to grab lunch. If you want to venture onto the peninsula and enjoy a few other spots, our favorites included: • The Turtle Inn—the Dutch Indonesian Rijsttafel dinner is an exquisite dining experience that we’re so glad we had the opportunity to experience. • Inky’s mini golf was a fun way to spend the afternoon. We enjoyed ice-cream before we even played and then a tasty lunch afterwards. • three60 Martini Bar is a rooftop bar that’s located on the same grounds as Inky’s mini golf. They weren’t yet open for the evening the day we went up to check out the views. Yet, they were warm and welcoming and served us drinks anyway. You can tell that it’s a beautiful place to see the sunset over the Mayan Mountains. • We did a day trip to Ranguana Caye, a private island, to go snorkeling. The hour-long boat ride is definitely worth it. A traditional Belizean lunch was included. The small island is stunning and the snorkeling was excellent. • After our Ranguana Caye excursion, we were dropped back at the Placencia Hotel where we decided to enjoy a meal at the Capriccio Restaurant. We were dining too early for their seafood dinner, but when we mentioned that’s what we really wanted to eat, the chef completely accommodated us. We found that again and again in Belize everyone was so hospitable and accommodating. We can’t say enough wonderful things about the people we met during our stay. Our honeymoon stay at the White House in Placencia was one that we deeply appreciate. We’ll always remember our stay at Per and Kirsten’s welcoming home where we got to wander the beach, breath in the sky, and nurture memories that will warm us for the rest of our days.

::The White House in Placencia was more than words. Per and Kirsten make sure the house is in pristine condition and have any amenity you could possibly think of, as well as any kitchen gadget you could think of. The view of the beach is breathtaking and there are so many places to relax and lay out with a book. The house is right at the end of the sidewalk to walk to most of the restaurants in town (our favorites were Tipsy Tuna and Barefoot Bar). We also went fishing and snorkeling with Matthew and made sure the fridge was always stocked with coconut water from Nick (so tasty!). The banana farms were all closed for the season when we went, but we took a trip to Ix Cacao, a cacao farm, and got to tour the farm and make our own chocolate! If you rent a car while you’re there, make sure to drive down to Turtle Inn and Maya Beach, too! They are resorts that have great food and pools, as well as being right next to the beach. Definitely will be staying here again!

::This was our second stay at The White House in Placencia, this time coming with our extended family for a total of six adults. We weren't sure how it would feel with a group this large, but we were happy to find that there was plenty of space and we never felt like we were on top of one another. As usual, we spent most of our time in the house on balcony watching boats on the water and enjoying the breeze. The balcony is covered, so you can be outside without frying in the sun. It is by far the best feature of the house. We stayed in one of the two bedrooms connected to the shared bath, and with the in-room door locks, we never had an issue sharing with the other couple. The beach right outside The White House is just as wonderful as we remembered. It’s the best place on the entire peninsula for swimming, since it has very little seaweed, rocks, or coral (compared to other places where there can be loads of seaweed growing on the ocean floor). We took a day trip with On the Hook, where we snorkeled and fished along the way to a private island where we had lunch prepared for us (including the fish we caught!). We had Vilma (caretaker Nick’s wife) cook a few of our meals for us and it was absolutely terrific! We highly recommend the Belizean Breakfast, which featured fried fish, fresh fry jacks with jam, and fruit salad. On top of preparing the meal, Yolanda took care of clean-up as well! It was like eating at a restaurant but from the luxury of our home! (As a tip for other guests: we had Vilma cater dinner the night before we left on our return trip home, so we would not have to worry about leaving any dirty dishes or leftovers). We tried a new restaurant this time, The Secret Garden (across from the big soccer field), which had great happy hour specials (the roasted garlic was phenomenal). The Pickled Parrot, a fixture of Placencia Village and personal favorite of ours, hosts trivia games on Thursday nights, complete with complementary jello shots in between rounds! We love that the house is right on the Placencia Sidewalk, making all the shops and restaurants of the village in easy walking distance. The only time we used our rental car was for day trips on the mainland, and one evening when we drove up to Maya Beach for a few games of bowling at Jaguar Lanes after a delicious early dinner at Maya Beach Bistro (check out their happy hour specials too!). All in all, we had an incredible trip and were so happy to share it with our family! We can’t wait to be back again next year! EDIT: Updated review to reflect our second stay at The White House in Placencia. (First visit, July 2015)

::We just got back from a girls week at this beautiful beach house in Belize. The house itself is a vacation. It is absolutely gorgeous, high end, well stocked and so comfortable, the views are amazing. Sunrise and moon rises like I have never seen before. The Caribbean ocean right in your front yard. So convenient, walk out the door onto the beach walk and there is everything you need, shops, bars, restaurants all in walking distance. Grocery store 5 minute walk. People in Placencia Village are so nice and laid back. We did a couple of tours with Lyra at Taste of Belize. A great cooking tour and an amazing snorkeling and fishing tour. They cook whatever you catch for a great BBQ lunch on an island. The White House in Palcencia exceeded our expectations.
