  Was there for a week and could not have picked a better place to stay. From the time we arrived and until the time we left it was like being at a resort where "everyone knows your name". I appreciate that the owners are close by but never intrusive, only checking on us periodically to see if there is anything they can do to make us feel comfortable. We took advantage of having them pick up some supplies for us as I knew we would be tired and hungry after traveling. Clean drinking water always available at the house, AC worked great and the kitchen is fully stocked. GET THE CINNAMON BREAD to make French toast in the morning, so good, like eating a Cinnabon. The maintenance person Jose kept the beach clean for us as there was quite a bit of kelp due to storms recently. We rented a car and took the scenic route from the Airport and was about 2.5 hours and then going back, did the Coastal Highway which was easy, about 2 hours. Having a car was nice when driving around the town. The excursions we did Snorkeling, Horseback riding, Ziplining, Cave Tubing were all fabulous. We also had a local person cook us dinner, and Shelly was amazing! We loved the lobster tails and BBQ chicken and they cook and cleaned up for us. Well worth it! We will be back as Belize is wonderful and such nice people at all the restaurants, ice cream shops and local stores that we went to. Most of all the owners Mark and Sabrina are wonderful, and Dean has your drinks ready when you are!

  The pictures and location sold us, but we were prepared for something less from prior Caribbean experiences. We were pleasantly and significantly surprised by how well done everything was. First off, Dean, the property manager (and neighbor), puts his all into coordinating as much as possible ahead of time, and once there, he was present at every transition to ensure everything went smoothly. The accommodations were exceptionally clean and fresh (from our experience fresh is a rarity in humid climates). The kitchen had everything needed and was very functional. The outdoor bar seemed the same, though we did not spend time there due to our very full itinerary (thanks again Dean!). They provided a ton of clean beach towels and it was great to have a washer/dryer ensuite to keep towels and damp clothes from piling up. Our hosts were also readily available, very friendly, and checked in at appropriate junctures. The town of Hopkins was wonderful, and I almost hate to advertise its amenities and charm for fear that it will change if too many people discover it. I'll, selfishly, leave it at that. Dean hooked us up with Get To Know Belize tour company for tours and transport. They were fantastic and we had fun getting to know their guides over multiple adventures. Of the adventures, we most enjoyed were the ruins of Caracol, ATM cave, and of course snorkeling and fishing the beautiful and bountiful reef. We also tried horseback riding, other ruins (also spectacular), and seeing a ton of the native wildlife (some rather exotic) at the Belize zoo. In last place for us was tubing the Herman cave. It was interesting, but short and less adventurous than hoped. I'd recommend this last one only for families with kids or those who like their adventure tame.

  I travel with 2 lifelong girlfriends and our husbands every few years and after this trip, we will break our rule to always go somewhere we've never been before - because we simply have to return to Villa Rising Sun - our best traveling experience ever! From the first moment we contacted Dean, we knew we were in good hands because he helped with every single detail in the planning and then, with Sabrina and Mark, our other hosts, provided over the top, concierge-level care with such a warm, welcoming manner that made it feel like we were visiting family! They answered all our questions and provided information we didn't even know to ask. They went above and beyond to stock some essentials because we would be arriving too late to pick them up ourselves on our first day. During our stay, they were always available but never intrusive and we felt like we were in the best hands! Every recommendation they made was spot on (Get To Know Belize Adventure Tours was equally amazing in service and experience) and they helped us book many of our activities. They are obviously well-respected members of the broader Hopkins community and I couldn't recommend these hosts more enthusiastically. The property was stunning! The house was roomy, comfortable and homey and have everything we needed. The beachfront was gorgeous and we spent a lot of time on the beach, the pier and in the outdoor palabra covered patio. I wish we would have pulled the kayak and paddleboard out earlier, but it was a lot of fun to play with on our last day. We couldn't have asked for a better stay.   We had the good fortune to be able to stay at Villa Rising Sun for 30 days. Mark, Sabrina and Dean are excellent hosts. The house is truly as advertized, the6 provide a very good concierge service looking after all of your needs. The small little restaurants in Hopkins are all very good and reasonably priced. The home delivery of fresh bread and bakery items, fresh fruit and vegetables along with a great variety of frozen meats is a very nice touch. All of the restaurants provided great gluten free options. A highly recommended reasonably priced option to visit the beautiful country of Belize

  We had an amazing time at the Villa Rising Sun! There were 7 of us staying. The Villa is clean, spacious and comfortable. Mark, Sabrina, Dean and Blaine were all terrifically kind, helpful and hospitable. They helped us organize the best adventures and food, including flagging down the local bread and veggie vendors and arranging delivery of a fabulous birthday cake. We all really loved swimming at the dock and hanging out at the beach bar. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you Villa crew!
